KUALA LUMPUR: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has proposed that questions on ethics be included in the written test for those applying for a driving licence.
This would test candidates on their understanding of road safety regulations as well as their ethics as motorists, Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri said.
"It will instil awareness in them to become more tolerant and law-abiding motorists," he said in a statement yesterday.
Abdul Rahim said this was important because a large number of accidents were caused by the drivers’ attitude such as impatience.
The JPJ, he said, should also produce a video on horrifying road accidents and good driving techniques.
He added that the video must be used as a teaching material in driving courses. – Bernama
